Anthony Mastrocola is the Head of Global Manager Research at BNY Advisors. In this role he leads research, selection and monitoring of investment managers across equity, fixed income and alternative asset classes for all BNY clients. He serves as the Co-Chairman of the BNY Advisors Investment Advisory Council, responsible for reviewing and approving all strategies under coverage and those strategies on the “High Conviction List”.

Prior to becoming the head of manager research in 2024, Anthony spent 20 years in the Hedge Fund and Liquid Alternative Investments business for BNY Wealth and BNY Advisors. Most recently Anthony was the head of the Liquid Alternatives business, responsible for leading the expansion and successful implementation and delivery of liquid alternative investments.  Anthony served as the Co-Chairman of Wealth Management’s Alternative Investment Strategy Committee, which is responsible for the establishment, approval, and oversight of alternative investment solutions employed by Wealth Management’s business segments.

Anthony is an active member of a number of investment committees for BNY Advisors and BNY Wealth. In addition to his role as Co-Chairman of the BNY Advisors Investment Advisory Council, Anthony also serves on the BNY Advisors Alternatives Council and BNY Wealth’s Investment Strategy, Investment Solutions and Governance, and Alternative Investment Strategy committees.

Anthony also served as a member and then Chairman of the Investment Council of Mellon Hedge Advisors, a Registered Investment Advisor, from 2005-2023. Anthony served as a Vice President of the Mellon Optima L/S Strategy Fund, a hedge fund of funds registered under the Investment Company Act of 1940, from 2010-2019 and as President of the Fund in 2020. Anthony also served as the portfolio manager of the BNY Mellon Alternative Diversifier Strategies fund from 2022-2023 and as co-portfolio manager of the BNY Mellon Yield Enhancement Strategies fund from 2022-2024.. 

Prior to joining legacy Mellon in 2004, Anthony spent five years in the semiconductor industry as a financial analyst. 

Anthony earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Bentley College, where he graduated magna cum laude. He is a CFA Charterholder, holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst designation and is a member of the CFA Society Boston.
